An End to the Darkness ~ SW Scotland

Street Corner in Annan
A street corner in southwest Scotland.

They chose to trust that God would provide what they needed and within a couple weeks Randall and Sherry Adams’s tickets were funded by a single donor. Now they just had $6,000 left in other costs to raise.

With excitement, Randall logged into Facebook to write an update for their info/support page that God was sending them on their way August 16th. Before he could finish the update, another friend called to give $3,000; soon after he posted, another to offer $1,000. God was providing, but God was only beginning His plan to bring an end to the darkness in SW Scotland.

When Randall was studying at Sunset Bible Institute 15 years ago, four teachers with decades of mission work experience, independent of each other, spoke to Randall’s class about the presence of evil spirits in today’s world.

“They said, ‘You’ve got to know this stuff is not fairy tale, it is not dead, it is not ceased, it is still alive and active, and so is the Holy Spirit battling it. And when you go out of this country, you enter a spiritual warfare that is going to be unlike anything you’ve seen.’”

One way that warfare of evil spirits rooted its presence in southwest Scotland long ago was through the ritual of Hogmanay, an ancient cultural practice that continues in some towns today of giving a spirit a room in a house in exchange for peace.

Sherry said, after nearly two weeks back, that she’s noticed a general spirit of defeat seems to linger over people in the city.

Local ministry friends of Randall and Sherry have said that a couple of school age kids they brought to Christ have mentioned that before accepting Jesus they got used to seeing demons walk around their classrooms at school.

“And they grow up in this darkness,” Randall said.

But with a clear view of the spiritual war in the area, God has directed hope and expectation for His light to shine in the darkness.

“I trust Him that He’s faithful and that He’s not going to send us there on a wild goose chase, trying to do something that will never happen,” Randall said. “He’s not a God of games.”

According to a guy named Kenny that Randall met on their survey trip last year, God has given more certainty of His intent through a prophecy he spoke to him.

“I, Kenny, had the Lord speak to me on May 5, 2016… The river of God is rising. The rains of the Spirit are coming. The overhead clouds are heavy with the glory of God. When the rains come, it will not be a light shower, but a downpour of God’s blessing. When the rains come, the river of God will rise, and the areas where the river flows will enjoy an overflow of God’s glory.”

“There’s more. He said, ‘Expect my rain to come and flood all of the dry and parched lands. I am pouring out my Spirit in these last days. Prepare yourselves to receive the blessing which I am about to pour out. Even now, I am sending my angelic forces into the four corners of the earth to spread the floods of the river of God to the nations. Get ready to receive my outpouring of my Spirit. Winds of change are blowing in the spiritual realm; get ready for the Spirit to blow across the land. A time of refreshing is at hand.’”

In follow-up prayers, God gave Kenny the understanding that this was spoken about southwest Scotland and one of the rivers in the area, Randall said. Two other sources have also shared similar words with Randall.

Considering what Randall and Sherry thought when they first set out on this journey, Randall said, “It’s not what we expected…. I don’t need to be part of a revival, I don’t need to be a catalyst, I don’t need to be anything. I’d like to just be a fly on the wall – that would be just perfect for me, just to be able to watch God work would be so amazing.”

The first steps the Adamses are already making is to pray directly over certain locations in the area and to connect and spend time with individuals and families in the city. Remember this family in your prayers as they follow God’s leading.
